Honey Bee
Honey bees are one of the most beneficial species for the environment due to their role in pollinating plants and their creation of one of our favorite sources of sweetness.
This type of bee can be found in Broward County all year around. Bee species can be difficult to tell apart, so with honey bees, look for an oval shape, brown and dull yellow bands, and a size between an inch and 3/4 of an inch. They tend to gather in groups of 5 to 20 in nooks and crannies of the home, such as eaves and chimneys.
While a new honey bee swarm can have around 5,000 bees, the typical hive has anywhere from 10,000 to 50,000 at its most active. The average life span of a honey bee is around 2 months in the summer and 4 in the winter. However, as soon as a honeybee uses its stinger, it will lose the stinger and die.
Honey bees will not attack unless provoked. Since they are essential to the environment, your best bet with honey bees in Broward County is to scare them away from your home.
